I always get the "expensive" one, $50, and I believe they do have the ratchets in the back. I like hard backbands that do not bend. IR backbands come with stiff plastic or metal side pieces. They are rigid. The back bands that come with Dagger, Pyranha, and Jackson boats have rope or bunge sides. That is why they provide very little back support. The ratchet tighteners are in a convenient place, and I have no problem reaching around and adjusting them. They have easy to adjust heavy plastic levers.
I did not like the Solo outfitting so that was one of the first things I did.
