I guided on the New for a few summers so have a good perspective on most of them...

Like people said Class VI has nice facilities overlooking the gorge. They run good trips and serve great food and also own Riverman who I also like. Personally I would pick either of them.

Songer is still one of the few independent companies on the new or gauley (ACE, Class IV, and Rivers bought out all the rest) They are great if your group is young, doesnt mind swimming in exchange for good hits, or likes to party. They don't take the most conservative lines and depending on your group that can be fun or scary.

Ace is the largest company on the river and because of that they think they own it (their guides are commonly referred to as aceholes). Their facilities, such as their lake, are pretty awesome.

Other companies people have not mentioned are the River conglomerate (Rivers, Extreme, Ultimate), New and Gauley Adventures, and West Virginia Adventures. I believe these companies have cheaper trips than IV or Ace but are a mixed bag. Personally I would not go with WV adventures, Extreme or Ultimate. New and Gauley and Rivers are pretty good but I would still pick IV or riverman over them.
