You're fine to point this out, and it is important to think about the much higher risk factor that paddling in snow and ice brings. Yes, the consequences are much higher. There are a few folks I have paddled with previously that I won't any longer due to their lack of judgement on the water.

Fortunately, Shannon isn't one of them. She's really modest, and says stuff like "I forgot to boof," but at the same time, she's a solid paddler who was paddling well within her ability and confidence level. I wouldn't have been on the river with her if I didn't feel that way.

She had a crappy line and didn't boof....hell, I had a random roll on a dinky feature that surprised folks. If Chris stuck a camera in my face and asked me about it, I would have just said I forgot how to paddle.

From a safety perspective, we were equipped to handle a swim, and even an extended night out ( ....everything 'cept a JetBoil).

Anyway....I just wanted to say that you brought up valid points, and I'm happy to be able to say that in my judgement we were reasonably safe. It's a topic that every group of paddlers should have amongst themselves on a regular basis.
