You're within Pyranha's recommended weight range for the medium, albeit on the higher end. But honestly, that shouldn't matter too much. At 5'9" and 165 lbs, I paddle a small. With all my gear on, this means I'm roughly 15-20 lbs over Pyranha's recommended paddler weight. As long as you're comfortable with some instability, it's a fun boat that will teach you a lot about paddling. It's easily my favorite boat for most standard mid-Atlantic runs (though to be fair, I'm not sure it'll ever make an appearance on the LBS, Upper Gauley, or Upper Yough).
