Popular local intermediate creeks some of them become advanced/expert runs at higher levels. Intermediate will defined as no higher than class 3+
1) Creeks a) Accotink spring time class 2 gem b) Cub Run - I would not run above 1.5 ft until you know it cold walk first for strainers. Folks love this creek c) Pohick - people like this one d) Difficult run below 193, run the first 3 rapids at the low end, was told you can boof the forth rapid safely without going into the gorge, would have to check this out. People love this one. e) Close ones in Md: Rock Creek and Cabin John If you have all your shots I heard the creeks were fun.
2) Get familiar with American Whitewater, all the creeks are listed under their database with put in take out info, tips, warnings levels etc.
3) Get familiar with carrying your boat with your head under the backband. Real creekers do not carry their boats on their shoulders.
4) Their are other popular creeks I left to the experts, or do not run enough or I am not familiar: Like the SB Patapsco, Passage, Lost, Baltimore stuff etc. etc.
Feel free to add to this or correct.
5) You may want to get a pair of NRS Creek Gloves and elbow pads, if you value your skin or are old, or chicken or all of the above.
