I couldn't roll or control the boat so I decided it was better to get off the river. In retrospect, I'm sure it was safer but I don't know if it was better.
In nearly 40 years of ww boating this was one of the very times I ever walked off the river but you know what bear hunters say: some days you eat the bear and some days the bear eats you.
