As you may have seen up there, a common practice among outfitters is to send one guide in a kayak with the floatilla of 5 or so rafts. This "guide" then shouts directions at them to get them through a deadly place we all know and love - Dimple. I have seen more unguided rafts dumptruck on that rock than my heart can really take.
With 4 teenagers and a non athletic mom, I would make damn sure they had a guide IN THEIR RAFT. (or that they portage dimple, but where's the fun in that?)
As for which outfitters send guides vs. those that don't I don't know. But that answer is one hone call away if people don't fill you in here.
