styrene resins like this have been identified as endocrine disrupting substances, so usual EPA safety assurances should be questioned--they use outdated 1970's paradigm to test such chemicals for safety, so prudent to switch to another water supply for a bit if you drink water drawn from the Potomac. I just say no to such sewer water to begin with.
It will be very dilute once it works a long way downstream. Likely not add very much to present chemical "soup" of micropollutants no public drinking water is treated for before consumption drawn from Potomac (where those intersex fish rocking the fish biologists world come from), I try to minimze exposure to these substances since they are so pervasive they cannot be totally avoided!
