As I said in my reply to the Werner FAQ post, the "anatomy" and "wrist alignment during the stroke" arguments make absolutely no sense.
As the other poster said: "two control hands"!
With 0 feather you still have the 45 or whatever angle of alignment between your wrists during the beginning of the paddle stroke. The key is that your "bottom" hand, near the water, is always aligned with the paddle blade/shaft oval. And of course, your "upper hand" is *not* twisted out of position just to match you "bottom" hand - it sits at whatever angle you like.
There is *only* one point per stroke side, where the two hands are at 0 degree vs. each other - when the paddle is out of the water, your body is rotated to face it, and you are about to begin to setup for the next stroke.
Try it at home with fingers straight - don't even need a paddle. Watch how the wrist alignment changes from side to side.
