Hello!
I would like to see if I can get information/input from the good folks here about an upcoming Canoe trip I am putting together with 5 other guys for my Bachelor Weekend Getaway/Spirit Quest/Wilderness Paddle Trip.

The weekend we are going out will be:
Put-In: Thursday 9.17 - Out: SunDAY 9.20

We have a full-range of experience re: paddlers on the trip, from expert to 'fresh meat' - fresh meat does have canoe experience but very-little-to-no White Water experience.

We are currently focused on Smoke Hole (thinking put-in at Big Bend with leisurely 2 day trip to Petersburg to shuttle back Saturday evening for a SunDAY run from Upper Tract back to cars at Big Bend (thought being we could get the fresh meat more confident before running the more challenging upper-waters of the Canyon))

-OR-

a trip down the Cacapon, likely with put-in at Capon Bridge.

I'd love to gain any insight from members here on what flow/levels we need to see for canoe passage as well as any other insights/thoughts on conditions, wilderness camping recommendations, shuttle providers, et al.

For the trip, looking for wilderness and solitude along with some challenging portions of water as well as some swimming and fishing holes.

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

Happy to provide more info if it will help in your guidance/input -- just ask!

::keeping fond thoughts of healthy rain between now and then at the forefront of my mind::
