See AW's description of the river-rating scale; each class is defined in terms of the water features (obstructions, gradient, turbulence, etc.) which are constant no matter what the craft.
I disagree that Roger's "ratings were for full-sized, general purpose, open canoes, not WW playboats, not kayaks, and not duckies or other inflatables." His ratings were made BY an old-school, long-boat canoeist, but they should be considered as FOR everyone, as long as everyone realizes he overrates everything by a full class -- sometimes even a class and a half -- by modern standards.
