Gluing a stubborn seat

I have an old Whitesell Piranha that was given to me a few years back.

When I received it, the foam pedestal seat was unattached. No problem I thought. I'll just prep the site (sand paper and denatured alcohol) and glue it in with Weldwood (red). That was last summer. When I went out tonight to uncover the boat, I noticed the seat had come loose and fallen out. I'm sort of surprised it didn't fail under use but while stored (upside down).

The vinyl pads for the thigh straps were also looking a little loose.

Any thoughts on what to use to get the seat to bond better? My old Charlie Walbridge book "Outfitting your canoe" says to use 3m's 3532 (two part urethane).

As I'm reading this I see that Charlie does say 'contact cement isn't strong enough' so I guess I got lucky that it didn't fail during use!
