I'm on the lighter side and haven't had any issues with wear spots over several decades of paddling. No matter what, most will have a platform of some sort where the b*** presses down in one spot. Few use just a thwart and those can be a weak spot unfortunately. I prefer wearing the boat to ensure maximum control of the boat.
