Howard's "wrong way" advice puts you in the path of drivers legally approaching Locks 5 & 6. And the merge-from-left at the Lock 6 end of the median is nasty. MOST of the wrong-wayers are avoiding the slow lane to Maryland after Arizona and quickly merge into one lane after Chain Bridge. But not all. This is mostly an issue at the height of evening rush. To exit Lock 5, I like to U-turn at the gravel lot on the left at the old pumping station, just after Falls Branch. You're legal this way.
