It begins at the midpoint of the normal upper Elk run.

The race is a real mob scene with, often, a gaggle of inexperienced and ill-equipped boaters. There is no way I paddle the upper Elk on race day any more; I just pay my registration fee (to help support the event) then inform the finish-line judges that I will not be in the race (to avert consternation when I fail to show up at the finish line).

This is usually a Class II/III weekend, though there is a good chance for some Class III/IV Upper Cranberry or Upper Meadow action this weekend, or maybe even an ELF Upper G trip.

With the rainfall predicted all week long, I really hope to get in a PFD of the Class III Williams or the relatively benign Lower Cranberry.
