john duke & i were looking for a section of creek we haven't done before and eddied out on brush creek near breezewood. we were dropping off a car at the t.o. when john said that a nearby landowner was about to tell us something. tell us he did; on and on about the neighbors, vietnam and the VA, etc., etc. we finally begged off and put on the river upstream. we paddled down to a covered bridge and had a nice sunny lunch. i looked at the old mill and mill race at the lunch spot and forgot **my drybag - with my car keys, etc.** by not going back to where we ate lunch before launching. we were portaging a barbed wire fence when i noticed that my dry bag was missing. paddling to the t.o., i considered how much time we were about to waste. finally, we got to the t.o. and the guy wasn't there. but he eventually showed up. begging for help, i convinced him to get into his pig carrier truck and give john a ride up to his car. hearing the pig truck grinding as it barely turned around [almost no reverse and almost no transmission] and then picked up john - i was glad when the extra shuttle unwound with my dry bag in hand. hope i don't do that stupid move again for many years. we gave him big bucks for helping us - so expect him to talk up any boater that shows up there; thinking he can get a good tip.
