I got a chuckle reading about the Sideling Hill creek debacle, but I remember a similar situation with ice building up in front of the dam on the Stoneycreek river. Fortunately, we were able to launch noses of our boats up onto the ice and skeedaddle across to portage. I did buy these weird ice picks thingies to help get a grip on the ice.

Strangely enough, I came across them yesterday while getting gear ready to go boating on a local class 2 run here in California. Interesting to be reminded of that trip twice in a single weekend. Also brings to mind another trip that never happen on Licking creek because of the ice.

Ah well! So Monday, March 16th would have been my sister Linda's 47 birthday and Tuesday, March 17 would have been Robert Monroe's 100th birthday, so I've got the Kindle version of my book for FREE now through Tuesday.
