It's about two feet downill from an elaborate French drain system. Hydrology, geology-I don't know much except that limestone is fickle. I have a 9 foot diameter by 2 feet deep hole in the ground dug for a pond, unlined because I gave it over to the ducks. It did not fully dry up since spring and been at least half full since mid-summer. It used to be my quickie gauge to see if there had .been enough of a downpour to bring up local creeks. It's right near my well, but my neighbors a couple hundred yards away have a well drying up. Perhaps it's the Keedysville Fault (yes there is such a thing). Replies to this post No replies yet |
