I don't know who's benefitting with a stream down the mountain from me but I have some evil surface wet spots that defy reason-deadly ice now, annoying mud otherwise. It's about two feet downill from an elaborate French drain system. Hydrology, geology-I don't know much except that limestone is fickle. I have a 9 foot diameter by 2 feet deep hole in the ground dug for a pond, unlined because I gave it over to the ducks. It did not fully dry up since spring and been at least half full since mid-summer. It used to be my quickie gauge to see if there had .been enough of a downpour to bring up local creeks. It's right near my well, but my neighbors a couple hundred yards away have a well drying up. Perhaps it's the Keedysville Fault (yes there is such a thing).

BTW it's interesting to go out in the midst of a epic rainfall (2-3" per hour plus). Good way to see where all the streams and gullies are. Gravity and H2O are great for boating, not so much for homeownership.
