Apparently waiting more than an hour standing in 32 degree water probably wasn't really the better idea.

One expects a loss of dexterity is in 2 or 3 minutes at that temperature. But most people can still swim for 10+ minutes before reaching exhaustion / uncontrollable shivering. Probably a bit longer with a full body wet suit.


I did love the reported phrase "submerged waist-deep in the water". Um, if he's standing in waist-deep water, technically, that's not really submerged...
